Beacon Hill Trail Run

'Well done to everyone who braved the rain to take part in the 2nd Beacon Hill Trail Run last night! Although it was quite a small, we like to think 'elite' race, we had a great time. Congratulations to the winners, especially the canine ones! The results can be found HERE. See you all next year when we promise to not clash with the football...'

The Beacon Hill Trail Run is an approximately 5 mile run within the boundaries of the Beacon Hill Country Park. The race is open to runners of all abilities, Nordic walkers and Canicrossers. The route takes you through the beautiful scenery of the Beacon Hill Park and includes a couple of hills, woods, fantastic views and a fast 1 mile downhill stretch to the finish. The route is run on the designated mountain bike/horse/walker trails within the park.

Where?
The Beacon Hill Trail Run takes place at The Beacon Hill Country Park, Lower Car Park, Breakback Lane, Woodhouse Eaves, Loughborough, Leicestershire, LE12 8TA. The Beacon is a 240 acre site of undulating heathland, woodland, grassland, wetlands, rocky outcrops and meadows. Rising to a height of 245m, Beacon Hill is the second highest point in Leicestershire and boasts spectacular views of Charnwood Forest and the Soar Valley. The Country Park supports an important range of plants and animals and is a Site of Special Scientific Interest. Beacon Hill is also the site of a Bronze Age hill fort believed to be up to 3,000 years old. Look out for the unusual rock formation shown below as you run round the track near the summit. You will see why it has been christened the 'Old Man of Beacon Hill'.
